Cd Review (featured in the 'Singled Out' section.) 09-11-05
It must be a crying shame for artists like Simon Imrei that Australian commerical radio seems so staunchly against picking up new Aussie artists; if you dont have a mega-million record deal behind you, or some handy 'connections', it seems there's no hope. So what of people like Imrei, who make good music, but music that is definately in the commercial vein (a song like Walk Away is like a less maudlin Pete Murray), but wont be played by alternative/ community radio either? Somethings gotta give.

Cd Review (featured in the 'Independant Spin' section.) 02-11-05
Acoustic Guitar playing, singer/songwriters are a dime-a-dozen these days, but with some beautiful tunes behind him, Simon Imrei has the ability to rise above the pack. Opening with the sublime Walk Away, before stepping into the sombre Till Tomorrow, his delightful vocals and lush melodies have a real charm to them. With an organic sound and a degree of innocence in his songs, Simon's self-titled EP is a joy to behold. Other tracks to become absorbed by, include the harmonious Rain (Richman Nights), the smooth Far Away From Me, and the brilliant Exhale, where he adds percussion, bass and hammond organ to the mix. Beautiful
